Europe’s future: Open Innovation, Open Science, Open to the World

The meeting on Europe’s future: Open Innovation, Open Science, Open to the World took place in the European Parliament on June 27th. Jointly organized by K4I and DG R&I, it was a forum for engagement between MEPs, the RISE HLG, representatives of the European Commission and the wider policy community. The discussion on Europe’s future in S& I addressed visions and values; framework conditions and instruments; and creating social and economic value.

Participants were welcomed by Lambert van Nistelrooij (Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Chairman of the K4I Forum Governing Board), Teresa Riera Madurell (Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands, former Member of the European Parliament)

Speakers included members of the RISE group and MEPs as well as notable innovation policy experts such as Wolfgang Polt (Head of the Centre of Economic and Innovation Research – POLICIES, Joanneum Research Ltd.) and Luke Georghiou (Vice-President for Research and Innovation at the University of Manchester). Sessions were moderated by Robbert Fisher (Managing Director of The Joint Institute for Innovation Policy (JIIP); President, Knowledge4Innovation (K4I)), Roland Strauss (Managing Director, Knowledge4Innovation) and Joachim Weidemann (Associated Business Director EU, Handelsblatt Global).
