Brain Research Though Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (US BRAIN) is an initiative launched by President Barack Obama in 2013 to accelerate the development and application of innovative technologies to construct a dynamic picture of brain function that integrates neuronal and circuit activity over time and space. The initiative is built on multidisciplinary scientific and technological fields such as neuroscience, genetic, physics, mathematics and chemistry, among others. Since the BRAIN Initiative launch, important results have been achieved: scientific publications, new technologies, networks and platforms. However, it is expected to take several years to find cures for brain disorders, and thus the impacts of US BRAIN are yet to be seen.
